First General Assembly
The CERTAIN consortium convened for its first General Assembly on 19 and 20 November at WMG, University of Warwick, following an online coordination session on 10 November. Partners from research organisations, industry, and stakeholder groups reviewed progress across Work Packages and prepared the next phases of the project.
Collaboration and technical deep dives
The in-person meetings focused on collaboration, knowledge exchange, and detailed discussions, including a visit to WMG’s Driving Simulator. The programme opened with an overview of the CCAM SUNRISE Safety Assurance Framework (SAF), which forms the theoretical basis for CERTAIN.
Targeted workshops explored key themes:
Stakeholder requirements
Use cases
In-service monitoring and reporting (ISMR)
Dissemination and exploitation
Alignment between use cases and the SAF
Navigating a fast-evolving landscape
Navigating a fast-evolving landscape
Project Coordinator Oana Moldovan highlighted the project’s position within an accelerating technological context:
“The CERTAIN project operates in a highly dynamic environment – developed in parallel with the deployment of new autonomous vehicle technologies. This makes it both complex and crucial: continuously identifying safety gaps, refining methodologies, and developing innovative solutions to ensure trustworthy deployment.”
Acknowledgement
The consortium extends its thanks to Applus+ IDIADA and WMG, University of Warwick for hosting and coordinating this General Assembly.
Looking ahead
By combining expertise across Europe, CERTAIN is helping define the boundaries of safe autonomous systems and accelerate progress towards trustworthy autonomous mobility.
